Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.
An important official stated the incident left him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
