Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
